HWL is excited to welcome Miguel Castroman as the newest member of our sales team, where he will focus on expanding HWL’s Locums MSP and VMS partnerships nationwide. With more than 20 years of experience across the healthcare workforce landscape—including permanent, leadership, and locums staffing—Miguel has built a career on strengthening executive relationships, navigating complex workforce challenges, and delivering strategic solutions for health systems. His background includes notable roles at Doximity, AMN Healthcare, and VISTA Staffing Solutions, complemented by an MBA from Kennesaw State University and fluency in English, Spanish, and German. Miguel’s expertise and mission-driven approach align closely with HWL’s commitment to transparent, vendor-neutral workforce solutions, and we’re thrilled to have him join the team.
Get to Know Miguel
How did you start your career in healthcare?
I began my career at American Express, working in travel-related services. After 9/11, the department went through significant changes, and I started exploring new opportunities. A neighbor suggested I look into VISTA Staffing, where he worked. I had never heard of locums before, but once I learned how it helped support staffing needs and patient care across medical facilities, I knew it was meaningful work. That introduction became the start of a career—and ultimately a passion—that has guided me for more than 20 years.
What brought you to HWL?
I’ve always been intrigued by Jackson Healthcare and the strong reputation the organization has within the healthcare world. HWL’s mission in particular resonated with me because it addresses some of the most critical challenges hospitals face today. HWL helps organizations streamline their workforce without interrupting patient care, while also reducing costs and improving efficiency. Being part of an organization that tackles those challenges in a transparent and strategic way was something I really wanted to be part of.
What are your priorities and goals for the future of HWL?
My goal is to be a strategic advisor to healthcare systems—to truly partner with them. I want clients to view me as someone who understands their pressures and can help them navigate workforce strategies that make sense for their organization. Whether it’s optimizing locums usage, improving processes, or addressing cost concerns, I want to support systems in finding long-term, sustainable solutions.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy going on walks with my wife and our two Australian cattle dog mixes. I also like to play guitar and spend time drawing and painting. Creativity and time outdoors help me recharge and stay balanced.
